Certified Environmentally Responsible Contractor (CERC) is a certification program administered by Environmental Risk Professionals. Think of it as an all-seeing satellite in the risk galaxy—a recognition of contractors who train their employees to understand and mitigate the environmental risks associated with their business. This may involve using best practices to prevent pollution incidents from occurring. It may entail obtaining additional environmental, health, and safety training from various sources. As part of the certification process, the contractor’s pollution liability coverage is evaluated and must meet the minimum standards set forth by the CERC certification program.
